I am 46 years old and weigh 155 I had smartlipo on June 13, 2008 on my upper and lower abs. I exercise about 4-5 times a week and no matter how many crunches I did my belly wasn’t shrinking. I would say that the procedure wasn’t painful just uncomfortable. The Dr. pumped me up with fluid to numb the area and I felt like I was gonna pop. After I was filled and numb enough he started sucking the fat out with a little instrument. The Dr. put to many holes in my stomach(about 15)and I hope they don’t scar because I thought they were only gonna put 4 holes. It took alittle over 2-1/2 hours for the procedure. I didn’t take anything to calm me down prior to the procedure and was suppose to eat a light breakfast and I didn’t. After the Dr. was finished he left the room and the nurse cleaned my stomach she then stood me up to wrap the area with guaze and ace wrap. Almost passed out from standing to fast so don’t stand up to fast. The wrap was real tight I guess to capture all the liquid that is suppose to drain. A compression garment was put on over the ace. I was very uncomfortable the first night. I was really swollen and it was a little painful I took 2- 500 tylenols. The next day went back to the Dr.s they removed the ace bandages a guaze and just put the compression garment back on. I was still really swollen. I didn’t really have that much fluid come out of my holes but I felt the fluid move down to my upper leg but its gone now. Its been almost a week and my stomach is much smaller. I don’t think I am swollen anymore. Its still kind of hard to bend down and pick something up. I miss exerciseing so I have done some brisking walking no pain. I am happy with the results at this point.
