Smart lipo was a piece of cake
Smart Lipo: Was worth it
Cost: $5,500
Pain: Painfree
Satisfaction: Excellent
I had the SmartLipo(with suction) procedure performed on June 3, 2008. That was 3 days ago and I feel great! I am a Registered Nurse and after doing a lot of research about the procedure, I decided it was for me. I was a little concerned because the procedure seemed "too easy". About 10 years ago, I had traditional liposuction on my outer thighs. I had great results, but the recovery period was awful and very painful. Thank goodness for SmartLipo. From the start of the procedure to right now, I have had very MINIMAL discomfort. I can’t even rate it as pain. I have a lot of anxiety when I have things done to me, but the procedure was very easy.
The day of the procedure, I took 15mg of Valium and 5/500mg of Vicodin. I had my lower abd.(the donut) and love handles removed. The doctor numbed the areas, which I barely felt, and then filled the area he was working on with the temescence (lidocaine/epinephrine solution). I was most nervous about this part because of reading the blogs on this website. Many people said this was so painful. I felt nothing! Once and a while, I felt a few drops of solution on my skin. It did feel a little cool. After that, he waited a while and then inserted the SmartLipo laster. I felt like someone was massaging me. No pain. After that, he suctioned out the liquified fat. Again, no pain. I did not watch anything, because I did not want to freak out. I wore goggles to protect my eyes from the laser light.
I had one puncture done on my low abd. and one on each flank. There is one stitch in each site. I have an appointment on Monday to have the sutures removed. I had little to no drainage the first night. I am wearing an abdominal binder, which feels very comfortable. It’s kinda like my security blanket. I had approximately 400cc’s of fat removed. Right now, I am too swollen to tell much of a difference. I can tell that the "donut" around my belly button is now flat. My skin is tender to the touch, but I can move freely. I was expecting my belly to feel like I worked out for hours, but it doesn’t. I took Vicodin the first night after my procedure, just to help me sleep. I haven’t taken any thingsince then, not even tylenol.
I can’t wait until the swelling goes down. I am very realistic about recovery time and know it will take months. The procedure was painless, but I would recommend everyone to take a sedative prior to the procedure. I hope my story helps ease some of your anxieties. Good luck!
